Blueprint of their hands
Cyanotype
2026
Blueprint of their hands is an archive of my matriarchal lineage. The women whose labour, rituals, and quiet resilience shape what is remembered and passed on. The work con siders how heritage lives not only in images, but also in the gestures and materials carried through generations.
Using analogue photography and cyanotype, I translate moments into deep prussian blueprints. Each image becomes an act of remembrance, tracing the invisible threads between mothers, daughters, and grandmothers.
The prints are hand-bleached and stain ed with coffee and tea from Madeira, Portugal, grown in the soil my foremothers tended. Through these organic processes, the landscape itself imprints the surface, embedding the presence of these women into the work.
Blueprint of their hands is both a document an d offering, providing a blueprint of women ’s endurance, memory, and inheritance.
